My last post to be exact, the one where I was touting the big weekend I had in front of me…..
Well, it quickly turned in to 3 Strikes You’re Out. At 1pm on Friday I was told that the startup I was working for didn’t have enough money to pay my salary and I was sent packing after 7 weeks. Yes, this sucks and I’ll go into more detail on the whole job/ no job in the next week or so.
Then around 5:30 Friday evening the Cubs got beat by the White Sox in the first game of the big Chicago cross-town rivalry. That was strike 2.
Then around 11pm the Mavs got beat in overtime by the Suns in Game 6 ending their playoff run and season. That was strike 3.
Boom, Boom, Boom! It wasn’t looking like a good weekend…
Lucky for me, the weekend got much better. I saw the new Star Wars movie late Friday night, it was awesome. Saturday we went to Katie’s company picnic and had a great time. And we wrapped things up Sunday with a trip to the zoo (I’ll try to get some pics up on my Flickr site tomorrow).
So it started out real bad, but ended up not being that bad of a weekend.
Wow! When it rains it pours. Praise God you have your wife’s employment. 🙂 Still, making a 1/2 cut in income is rough and seeing your work not work out is never much fun either. Sorry to hear about that.
Glad it ended on a good note for you. Were many of the animals out at the zoo?
Hey Josiah…
Yeah, I’m lucky to have a wife that is working, and doing very well in her career. Honesty, I’m not worried at all. I sent my resume out to 7 people yesterday and got three interviews lined-up already. I’ll keep you posted on my job search.
The zoo was great! There were tons of animals out, even with the record 99 degree heat! I’ll get some photos up today, hopefully.

Hey man, sorry about the startup going belly up, that always sucks.
I’m at a small-ish company now, and also have my own little company, as well as have been through the shut-down several times in the past.
But I’d have it no other way! Large companies I have worked for are “safe-ish” and all, but not nearly as much fun!
I wish you the best of luck! You’ll find something soon, I’m sure. The market is warming up nicely!
Take care,
-Frank
Hey Frank….
I’m definitely not sweating the job…. I had two great interviews today. I’m really trying to decide now if I want to go to a big company or stay with a small one….
Check back here for updates….
