Does This Mean No G5 PowerBook?

I read on CNet.com via OSNews.com that Apple is going to announce on Monday that they are moving away from the PPC processor to one made by Intel. The only thing that bothers me about this is that the timetable for the move is out in 2006 and 2007.

What does that mean for people waiting to get a G5 PowerBook? Is Apple going to work on getting the G5 into the PowerBook and then up and switch to an x86 chip? It would seem strange; almost a waste of time. Either way, the PowerBook has had a G4 for a long time and it needs something faster. Laptops with x86 processors have gotten much faster then the PowerBook and it is supposed to be Apple’s workhorse…

The coming announcement has alot of people up in arms. Some don’t believe it, some do, some like it, some don’t.

should make for some good reading though. 😉

I don’t understand the logic in Apple making the announcement. I’d guess they put up some of their worst sales numbers ever while people wait for the x86 based machines.
