What a Weekend – Son Volt Concert and Aggies Game…

I had a kick ass weekend. Katie gave me a weekend pass and I made the best of it. I left work a bit early on Friday and made a bee-line for Austin to meet some college buddies. Friday night we went and saw Son Volt play at Stubbs Bar-B-Q. Awesome show! Son Volt played for over 2 hours. Truly awesome show.

Saturday morning we trucked down to College Station for the Fightin’ Texas Aggies football game. We were playing SMU in our home opener. To say we won would be an understatement. The Aggies beat the Ponies 66-8. After only being up 7-6 after the first quarter the Aggies offense went nuts. Beating them 59-2 in the final three quarters. The defense was pretty strong too not allowing any points in the second half. Nothing makes me happier then seeing the big ZEROS on the scoreboard for the opponent.

Reggie McNeal was amazing. His performance warrants and will receive a separate post. I’ll wrap my Aggie report noting that after we play Texas State next weekend Baylor comes to town. The nice thing is Baylor will be bringing an undefeated record to College Station, probably the first time ever. Anyhow, after the humiliating loss to them last year it will be beautiful when we crush them and ruin their perfect record. Look for a lot of points to be scored.

The weekend ended with the Bears getting their first win of the year. They destroyed Detroit 38-6. The Bears could have easily scored 60, but they pulled a number of starters.
