I’m back in the game. My two surgically repaired knees have been feeling pretty good lately. I haven’t been pushing them too hard; running short, easy 2 mile runs a couple few times a week. Last weekend I did a 3.5 mile run and felt good.
So this past Saturday I went all out and did a 7 mile run. Why 7 miles? Because it’s two times around my 3.5 mile course. 🙂 How long did it take me? A solid 1:15:06. I was happy with that. I could have done better, but I wasn’t in any hurry. Anyhow, I’ll push my 2 mile runs up to 3 and try to get 4 of those in a week. Mixing in a 7 mile run on the weekend. Doing that for the next couple months.
If the knees still feel good after that wear and tear I’ll be running my first marathon in early December. Yeah, I want to run the White Rock Marathon. It’s been a goal of mine ever since my mom went and ran the Houston marathon about 5 years ago. Don’t consider this a hard commitment as I need to get a few more miles on the knees before I’m certain they can handle it, but I’ll know for sure in two months.
For those running snobs out there. Yes, I know a marathon is a long run. I’ve done many 10 mile runs in my life without any problem. Yeah, that was about 10 years ago, but I still have done them. Yes, I know 10 miles is nowhere near a marathon. I’m just saying I’ve done some long distance runs.
